Term 2 Overview

Topic This Term

We Will Rock You - During this topic we will be learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Our English lessons will be linked to the books ‘Littlenose’ by John Grant.

In maths, the children will be learning about multiplication and division. Please support your child learning their times tables at home. In science we are exploring rocks and soils and in art we are learning about Andy Goldsworthy.

Outdoor Learning and PE

Every Wednesday morning, the children will have PE with Mr Anderson and Outdoor  Learning with Mrs Dyke. Please see previous letters for details of this, and ensure that the children bring suitable clothes with them every Wednesday.

PE Kit

Please make sure that your child has a complete PE kit in school all the time. This should consist of:

  • A white T Shirt
  • Black or Blue shorts
  • Black Plimsoles
  • Black or Blue Jogging bottoms in colder weather

Please ensure that ALL items of clothing have your child’s name in.

Thank you for all of your support during term 1! Children need to complete at least three pieces of homework throughout the term. Those who do will receive a reward at the end of term! Children should be proud of their homework and take care of their homework books. You are invited to join us on 29th November after school, to use the school resources to complete a homework of your choice.

Reading at Home

The children have all chosen a book to take home and read, and have all been given their own reading record. Anyone who reads for three times a week, for ten weeks in a row, will be awarded with a free  book to take home! It is important that the children’s record is completed and comes to school every Friday to be checked by their teacher.

Home Time

Please remember that, if you are unable to collect your child for any reason at the end of the day, you need to let the office know who will be coming in your place. We are unable to send children home with other adults without your consent.

As the weather is getting colder children should be wearing suitable outdoor coats for play and lunch time.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Wake & Miss Davenport
