Term 6 Overview

Wow! We have reached Term 6 already. The children have worked really hard this year and we are looking forward to seeing the wonderful work they will produce this term. We shall be having an Art exhibition towards the end of term to display the fantastic African Art the children will produce.

Our Learning Journey in term 6 is African Safari.

We shall be finding out about African animals, the climate and where Africa is in relation to the rest of the world.

Outdoor Learning and PE

Every Thursday afternoon Year 2 will have either PE with Mr Anderson or Outdoor Learning with Mrs Dyke.

On these days Mr Anderson and Mrs Dyke will be seeing the children out of the door at the end of the day, with the help of the class Teaching Assistants.

Reading at home

Please read with your child at home. Ask your child questions about what they have just read. It is incredibly helpful and can help them to understand texts better.

Please record when you read at home in their yellow reading record book with the date, title of the book and a comment.

It is now the children’s responsibility to come in and change their own book if they have read it. Please remind them to do this as they come in in the morning.

Reading records are collected in every Monday and the children progress around the reading tree if they have read least 3 times that week. When they have reached apple 10, they are awarded a book of their choosing!

Please ensure you child’s book bag is in school every day, with their reading book and reading record inside.

PE Kit

Please make sure that your child has a complete PE kit in school all the time. This should consist of:

  • A white T Shirt
  • Black or Blue shorts
  • Black Plimsoles
  • Black or Blue Jogging bottoms in colder weather

Please help us

Please ensure that everything is named clearly. This includes coats, uniform, P.E. kit, water bottles and lunch boxes.

Studies show that children need 9 hours sleep every night. Thank you to those of you who make sure that your child is sleeping for long enough. It really makes a difference to their ability to concentrate in lessons.

Home time

Please remember that, if you are unable to collect your child for any reason at the end of the day, you need to let the office or class teacher know who will be coming in your place. We are unable to send children home with other adults without your consent.

Thank you for your continued support.
