Topic this term – Rivers and Mountains

During this topic we will be learning about mountains and rivers, both locally and around the world.

In maths, children will be learning about length and perimeter and starting to explore fractions. As always we encourage children practise their times table at home. This will be a huge help when we come to learn about fractions later in the term!

Outdoor Learning and PE

Every Wednesday morning, the children will have PE with Mr Anderson and Outdoor Learning with Mrs Dyke. Please see previous letters for details of this, and ensure that the children bring suitable clothes with them every Wednesday. As the weather is now colder, the children should have wet weather gear for outdoor learning and warm clothes for both lessons.

PE Kit

Please make sure that your child has a complete PE kit in school all the time. This should consist of:

  • A white T Shirt
  • Black or Blue shorts
  • Black Plimsoles
  • Black or Blue Jogging bottoms in colder weather

Please ensure that ALL items of clothing have your child’s name in. We have a lot of items ending up in lost property!

Homework

Thank you for all of your support during term 3! Children need to complete at least three pieces of homework throughout the term. Those who do will receive a reward at the end of term! Children should be proud of their homework and take care of their homework books. We will confirm a date soon where you are invited to join us after school, to use the school resources to complete a homework of your choice.

Reading at Home

The children have all chosen a book to take home and read, and have all been given their own reading record. Anyone who reads for three times a week, for ten weeks in a row, will be awarded with a free book to take home! It is important that the children’s record is completed and comes to school every Friday to be checked by their teacher. As a year group, this has improved greatly this year. We now have a regular slot in the school library where children are able to borrow new books to bring home.

English

This term we will continue to look at Nim’s Island. Later in the term we will also look at The Journey.
