Outdoor Learning and PE - New Day

Every Wedneday afternoon we will have either PE with Mr Anderson or Outdoor Learning with Mrs Dyke. Please see previous letter for dates of these for this term.

On these days Mr Anderson and Mrs Dyke will be seeing the children out of the door at the end of the day.

Please make sure that your child has a complete PE kit in school all the time. This should consist of:

  • A white T Shirt
  • Black or Blue shorts
  • Black Plimsoles
  • Black or Blue Jogging bottoms in colder weather

Please Help Us

Please ensure that everything is named clearly. This includes uniform, P.E. kit, water bottles and lunch boxes.

Spellings

The spelling list will be coming home weekly on a Friday. This will be tested on the following Friday. Please help your child to learn these.

We are having a big focus on spellings next term as it is an area where we have noticed that the children are struggling.

Reading at Home

Please read with your child at home. Ask your child questions about what they have just read. It is incredibly helpful and can help them to understand texts better.

Please record when you read at home on their reading record card, with the date, title of the book and a comment (which can be as long or as short as you like!) This must be written by an adult.

It is now the children’s responsibility to come in and change their own book if they have read it. Please remind them to do this as they come in.

Reading records are collected in every Friday, merits and a special stamp are awarded if they have read at least 3 times.

Each class has a display of 10 apples that the children can work their way around. When they read at home on 3 different days in the week, they can move on to the next apple. A book of their choice will be presented to your child when he/she reaches apple number 10, in our Special Mentions assembly. The children will also earn a sticker that will go towards winning a trophy.

Special Mentions Assembly - New Time

Every other Friday morning is Special Mentions Assembly. Five certificates per class are handed out to children that have worked particularly hard during the previous two weeks. If your child is going to receive one of these awards they will be given a slip on a Thursday.

Thank you for your continued support.
